3 Ways to wear a silk scarf in your hair

A while back my husbands mother let me look through his grandmothers old scarves. She has buckets of them. Floral, stripped, geometric, you name it she has it. I got to pick my favorite ones and take them home with me. When my Nonna passed away, I also got to do the same thing. I adore having pieces of those amazing women that I can take with me any day I want to.

I absolutely love when a trend from back in the day circles around, but in a new way. Being a hairstylist, as soon as I saw scarves popping up on my Pinterest and Insta I knew something fun was around the corner! I started out tying scarves to my purse, and then around my neck and then they slowly started to make their way up to my hair. I thought summer time was the perfect season to share how I have been styling my scarves.

  1. A Simple Pony Tail

Give your a hair a tease at the crown and tie it up into a pony tail on about the middle of your head. Pull on end of your scarf through your pony tail holder and pull until you have an even amount of scarf on both sides. (this is going to ensue your scarf doesn't slip out, even if the knot comes undone) Taking both ends of the scarf, wrap it around your ponytail and then tie a simple knot over the top of your pony. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

2. A Sweet, Sweet Bow

Have you ever seen anything cuter than this bow? I always get compliments on my hair when I wear it this way. Fold you scarf over until it becomes about 1-2 inches wide. Flip your head over and place the scarf at the nape of your neck, holding onto both ends. Flip your hair back up and over the scarf, pulling the two ends straight up. Tie a knot and pull it snug until you have it on a comfortable spot on your head, then tie your bow. I like to pull mine off to the side a little bit just for fun!

3. A Fun Bun

If you are having a dirty hair day, or even a bad hair day. Try this fun bun to help conceal it! The first step is to get your hair into a messy bun. I like to Tie mine into a high pony first and then twist my hair until it starts to wrap on itself, then I continue to wrap until I can't anymore, then secure with a second hair tie. The next step is the same as #2, but instead of starting in the back and tying in the front, you will place the scarf on top of your head and tie off from the back. This is definitely my go-to on my lazy hair days.
